Learner Support

The Faculty of Learner Support provides assistance to all students who require additional support to access their learning and achieve results to the best of their ability.

What is Learner Support?

  • Identifying students’ needs
  • Within-class Teacher Aide Support
  • Specific group support
  • Special Assessment Conditions (SAC)
  • Individualised support programmes
  • English language learner support programmes
  • Staff professional development around learning differences
  • Coordinating with outside specialist agencies
  • Coordinating with subject teachers

What are Special Assessment Conditions (SACs)?

Special Assessment Conditions (SACs) are designed to remove barriers to achievement for otherwise capable students. They help students fairly demonstrate their knowledge, skills and understanding, without giving them an unfair advantage over other students.

We submit applications to NZQA on behalf of our students. SACs are available for internal and external assessments, as well as practice assessments.

For more information, please see refer to the Special Assessment Conditions page on the NZQA website.
