Kaipara College offers something genuinely different for international students.
As a small, semi-rural school, we keep our international programme intentionally boutique, which means every student is known, supported and genuinely part of the community. Our teachers are experienced in working with international students, and our pastoral care and student services team are there whenever students need them.
We are proud of our kiwi character. Rather than trying to be everything to everyone, we focus on what makes us unique: an authentic New Zealand experience in a community that genuinely embraces students from around the world.
Life at Kaipara College is about more than English language learning. We want students to grow in confidence, discover new interests, build independence, and leave knowing a little more about who they are. We offer time and space for student to breathe, to learn on their own terms, and to really enjoy being young.
Students are encouraged to get involved in everything the school has to offer, from sport to bands to school musicals and cultural activities. The more students put in, the more they get out.
Living in Helensville
Kaipara College sits in a semi-rural setting within easy reach of Auckland. While we are close to the city, the experience here feels a world away from a large urban school. Students are immersed in a real New Zealand community, one where local businesses and neighbours know the school’s international students by name and are genuinely pleased to see them. For students who want an authentic kiwi experience rather than a busy city environment, Kaipara College offers something special.
Accommodation
Our homestay families are as varied as New Zealand itself. Some are based in Helensville itself, others in Huapai and Kumeu, and some on rural properties. This range means students experience different sides of New Zealand life, from farmlets to character villas to modern homes.
Homestays at Kaipara College are described as traditionally kiwi with a modern character. Host families often end up drawing the best out of students in unexpected ways, encouraging students to have a go at sports or activities they may not have had the opportunity to try before. The school takes care to match students and host families well, as a good match is seen as essential to a positive experience. Host families are vetted, visited and referenced each year.
